I started making films at about 10 years old (mainly out of my love for Star Wars and other films) with my parents 8mm film camera, then a super 8mm camera, and by the time I went to college I was making movies on video and 16mm film. One of my first movies was a short parody of horror films called "The Death Statue" featuring a small Easter Island Aku Statue I bought at Disneyland (see picture below). A representation of this statue later became my film company logo for "Death Statue Productions." In an effort to avoid any bad connotations I changed the name to "Monolith Productions" since the statue had become a symbol similar to the ominous monolith from "2001: A Space Odyssey." I moved on from making films to selling toys, but retained the old logo and changed the name to "Monolith Toys."
